What is E85? E85 is an alcohol fuel mixture of 15% gasoline and 85% ethanol. Ethanol (grain alcohol) is mostly known as used in alcoholic beverages. In the United States it is created mostly from corn, but it can be made from any renewable starch re-source. Why use E85? Americans understand that they have to cut their dependency on domestic and foreign oil. E85 can not only supply us with a replacement fuel for our automobiles, but it can also reduce our greenhouse gases coming from our tailpipes (25% to be exact) and keeps more United States money within this county. What is going on in California and E85? In an effort to expand the availability of ethanol, General Motors Corp. has struck an agreement with the state of California and Chevron Technology Ventures to bring the alternative fuel E85 to California consumers....
